Ingrown toenails and corns: avoid surgery! Our certified podiatrist will help you without an operation.

Your feet carry the whole weight of your body, so they certainly deserve attention and thorough care. If neglected, the skin of the feet can become a source of unpleasant pain and problems. An ingrown toenail can be unpleasant and painful. It is a fairly common health problem which, moreover, tends to recur. A nail that is too wide presses on the skin folds at its sides, causing an unpleasant pressure sore and a superficial injury. This may then lead to a dangerous infection.
An ingrown toenail is a condition in which the corner or side of a toenail grows into the soft flesh. It usually happens to the big toe, but it can also happen to other toes. An ingrown toenail can get infected – it may be painful, red and swollen, and it may drain pus.
With ingrown toenails, people usually go to a general practitioner, who refers them to surgery. There the doctor will not take time over the nail and will simply pull it out, which is painful and, moreover, ineffective, as the new nail may become irreversibly deformed.
In our beauty centre you can consult a professional whatever is bothering you: calluses, blisters, corns, an ingrown toenail, cracked skin, burning heels, heavy legs or hyperkeratosis.
Our specialist will make a diagnosis, determine the treatment and advise you on prevention.

Many women and men suffer from ingrown toenails, as well as, for example, from paronychia – inflammation of the nail bed.
This problem is solved either by surgical removal of part or all of the nail bed with a laser, by nail bed plastic surgery, or by non-surgical methods such as:

The first nail-straightening device was patented as early as 1876 in Ohio. Today several types of braces are available, from plastic adhesive strips (B/S spange) and simple wires to the latest combination of silicone and wire.
Before the brace is applied, an apparatus pedicure is performed – complete foot care including removal of hardened skin, cuticle care around the nails and care of the nails themselves with fine burrs. The pedicure is very pleasant and leaves the nails perfectly prepared for the brace, without polish.
Correcting an ingrown toenail with metal braces is absolutely painless. A thin piece of dental-alloy wire is attached to the centre of the affected nail with a special gel and fixed at the nail edges with small hooks. The wire is gradually tightened, straightening the nail plate into the correct position.
Plastic B/S spange are suitable above all for brittle and fragile nails. They are made of plastic in the shape of a spring and are glued onto the whole surface of the nail.
The advantages of braces over surgical methods: convenience, no pain, no recovery time, much lower cost and no disfigurement from permanent removal of the side of the nail.
Thanks to the combination of a quality pedicure and “braces”, you can avoid an unpleasant surgical procedure.

Tamponade is an ideal method for straightening nail edges. It is one of the simplest conservative methods: the podiatrist trims the ingrown nail slightly and fills the freed space with a special non-woven fabric.
A new additional service to the pedicure – ingrown toenail treatment!

In this method a special tube is placed on the ingrown nail, allowing the nail to grow over the thickened part of the nail fold.

Yes, do not be shy and book a consultation with any problem. We can solve podiatry problems including ingrown toenails, or advise you where to look for help with your specific problem. Some facilities consider pulling out the affected nail the best solution; for us it is the very last option. Pulling nails out can almost always be avoided with suitable treatment.
Every nail is genetically individual and grows and straightens at a different pace, so it is very hard to predict the course of treatment in advance. Our specialists use professional Naspam wire braces, attached to the nail for about 6 weeks, which actively straighten the nail and so stop it growing in. Applying the brace is not painful – on the contrary, the pain caused by the ingrown nail eases immediately. The brace does not limit you in everyday activities and is not noticeably unsightly – it is just a thin wire attached to the nail at a few points.
Ideally, visit a pedicurist once every four weeks, when the hardened skin on the soles is professionally treated and the nails are trimmed correctly to prevent them from growing in. From a health point of view, foot care should not be neglected, especially if you have, for example, ingrown nails, various mycoses, yeast infections, warts or corns. Of course, the appearance of your feet matters too – it supports your self-confidence and the feeling of beautiful, well-groomed feet and nails.
Braces can be applied to anyone whose nail grows in or tends to. Straightening the nail prevents it from growing in. Braces come in several sizes, so they can be used for children, women with small feet and nails as well as for large, wide men’s nails.
